Sian Prior has had a multi-faceted career in the arts, education and media, as a writer, broadcaster, teacher and singer. She is best known as a former presenter on ABC RN, ABC Classic and ABC Melbourne, and a columnist for The Age. Her essays have been published in magazines and literary journals, and she is the author of two books: Shy: a memoir, and Childless: a story of freedom and longing (shortlisted for the Age 2022 Book of the Year award).

Sian teaches creative writing at RMIT University, runs her own online writing courses, and mentors individual writers. She is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts’ Opera Studio and was the founding director of the Victorian Trade Union Choir. Sian is a former Convenor of the Green Room Awards Opera Panel, and she sings with the La La La Chorale, Cantabile Chamber Choir and the Westgarth Ensemble.
