People’s Republic of Comedy
Over the past decade, comedy in China has exploded in popularity. Online celebrities, large venues and popular skit TV shows have proliferated around the country to meet the rising demand. In partnership with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, we’re bringing together a panel of Chinese comics and producers to discuss the rapidly evolving Chinese comedy scene and what it means to produce comedy globally.
How do comedy scenes, and audiences, differ between China and the West? And how have Chinese comedians approached exporting their work to Western audiences?
Join our distinguished Chinese guests as they discuss comedy from the world’s most populous nation.
With Xiaoxi He, Juan Liu, Dan Li and Bo Pang.
This event will take place in Mandarin and be translated into English.
Presented in partnership with Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
