Emerging Writers’ Festival: Jack Colwell on Tweeties for Sweeties: Narrative in Grindr and social media
Interactive social media platforms designed specifically to enable real-world sexual encounters are now in common use. Tinder, Blendr and Grindr can be found lurking amongst the apps of many a smartphone. Is there a way to harness these hook-up apps to create a meaningful narrative?
Classically trained composer and alternative pop star Jack Colwell is a young musician and social media expert who has worked with Architecture in Helsinki, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Ella Hooper. In this revealing lunchtime talk, he outlines how to weave storytelling into the real, the virtual and the sexual.
Lunchbox/Soapbox
We love exploring ideas at the Wheeler Centre, and encouraging others to do the same. That’s why every Thursday lunchtime we hand the microphone over to the great thinkers, dreamers and orators of our time.
With a dazzling range of passionate speakers and unusual topics, our soapbox provides a platform for the eclectic, topical and enlightening stories you won’t hear elsewhere. This is the most memorable lunch break you’ll have all week.
If you’re in need of sustenance of body as well as mind, the MOAT lunch cart will be serving delicious $10 lunchboxes in the performance space from 12.20pm.
