David Walliams: The New Roald Dahl: Yarra Ranges
Loved, admired, and perhaps somewhat reviled by adults as part of the comedy duo of Little Britain, David Walliams is far better known by kids across the globe as the author — of rock star proportions — of hilarious and often moving illustrated children’s novels.
Often dubbed the ‘Roald Dahl of the 21st Century’, his books have been published in 40 languages, selling over four million copies in the UK alone. His first book, The Boy in the Dress (released in late 2008), was illustrated by Dahl’s longtime collaborator Quentin Blake. He’s since published six more novels and two picture books in quick succession, and to much acclaim. Just this year, sales of his novels — all firmly geared to a tween readership — have outstripped that of J.K. Rowling. And it’s all seemingly happened by stealth.
Walliams will drop by SkyHigh Mount Dandenong for a chat with musician-comedian-actor Eddie Perfect … and a budding legion of young Australian fans. Come along, bring your kids and meet the international children’s publishing sensation.
This event is perfect for children aged 7–12, but open to all ages.
