David Sedaris: A Carnival of Snackery
This event is available on demand from 6.30pm AEDT, Thursday 14 October until 6.30pm AEDT, Thursday 21 October.
‘When the pandemic hit, my first thought wasn’t Oh, those poor dying people but What about my airline status?‘
There’s only so many times you can you hear ‘we’re all in this together’ before it starts to ring hollow. This is the point when we need the satirist to step in, ready and willing to admit that sometimes… he’s just thinking about himself. Enter David Sedaris.
A Carnival of Snackery is the renowned humorist’s new, wickedly funny volume of diaries. Picking up where Theft By Finding left off, it’s a bemused and biting account of his everyday observations from 2003 to 2020, touching on everything from living through political chaos to the perfect dirty dinner party joke.
At once mischievous and poignant, bitter and sweet, Sedaris’s humour is a breath of fresh air. Joining us from his home in New York City, Sedaris turns to his most perplexing subject yet: the world right now. In conversation with Sami Shah, they’ll cut through the platitudes and unearth the truths we’re all thinking, but don’t dare to admit.
Leave your worries off-screen, and settle in for an evening with the man who knows how to see the funny side of absolutely anything.
