Drawing Manga – Workshop with Queenie Chan
Manga is the Japanese word for ‘comics’ – a style of art and story-telling which has been popularised all over the world via the Internet, along with other related segments of Japanese pop culture (including anime and video gaming). This workshop will give a brief overview of manga culture in Japan, followed by lessons in how to tell a story in Manga form.
Special attention will be paid to pacing and panelling, as well as a dicussion of mood, genres, and all other aspects of manga story-telling. Attendees should expect to do some drawing, though advanced skill in art is unnecessary.
