In partnership with Perth Festival, join us for a special online event with Ethiopian-American writer Maaza Mengiste, author of the 2020 Booker Prize shortlisted The Shadow King. Set in Ethiopia during the 1935 invasion by Mussolini, The Shadow King catalogues the efforts of a brave battalion of women who took up arms to defend their country.
Mengiste will appear via live stream in conversation with author and curator of the literature and ideas program at Perth Festival, Sisonke Msimang.
